A. Smiling Planet
An eco-conscious, planet loving team of people have created Smiling Planet – a range of eco-friendly home-ware for kids, which includes plates, placemats and posters. Each design carries a heartfelt message about caring for your planet and those around you. Their placemats shown above, are made from a safe revolutionary polymer that can be recycled, and each design has been printed with safe, water based inks. You’ll see more Smiling Planet goods in the next issue of LMNOP.

B. Hummingbaby
Hummingbaby’s 26-piece Fall collection, Red Dragonflies, features exquisite pieces made of fine double gauze cotton. Tiny, whimsical prints and pretty styles were presented at Bubble NY in five colour ways – turquoise, green, red, purple, pink and black. Alex capes, the Dakota pant and the Olivia dress were amongst our favourite styles. Designer, Suna Ruhren drew inspiration for this collection from her daily childhood visits to a park on the Japanese peninsula of Chiba. The fall sunset would call red dragonflies to the sky. “That’s how I knew it was time to say goodbye to the park for the day. My mom would hold my hand as we walked home together.” Suna says.

C. Patouche
We loved Patouche’s wooly pirate hats! This Canadian clothing and accessories label created by Kessa Laxton, is produced in small-batches to ensure quality craftsmanship. The collection boasts many playful details. The pirate pant features a ’stick loop’ – a handy loop designed to hold your stick sword, or wand. As well as a treasure pocket, perfect for stashing playground loot. And for the girls, fanciful leg/arm warmers to wear beneath warm hooded capes. Charming design details that only children could truly appreciate. Laxton celebrates the wonder of childhood with her Fall 09 collection.

D. Ida Pearle
LMNOP have featured the marvelous cut-paper collages of New York-based artist, Ida Pearle in LMNOP – Issue 2. We had the pleasure of meeting Ida in person at Bubble NY, where she introduced her recently published book “A Child’s Day: An Alphabet of Play”. Along with new poster-size prints of custom artworks, and showcasing a graceful stationery range. Ida’s poetic narratives are inspired by everyday events in a child’s life. Look out for a feature story on Ida and her artwork in the next issue of LMNOP.
