Best of Bubble NY Series #2

A. Faubourg Saint Denis
The creative collaboration between five good friends, (all living in different corners of the world) is the reason why this vivacious new label is full of such international appeal. Their collective motivation came to realization in 2008 when they launched Faubourg Saint Denis – a casual, French designed, chic label for boys and girls aged 2-8. This 5-star team’s capacity to inject fun and innovation into their styles is inspiring. Every piece bringing a smile to our faces while viewing the Fall 09 collection at Bubble NY. It’s not all play though. Faubourg Saint Denis still manages to give plenty of attention to the details of comfort, colour and fabric.
B. Dagmar Daley
Dagmar Daley is most certainly inspired by a childhood of simpler times. Her stylish, simply detailed clothing line, carries a quiet confidence only seen in few collections. For Fall 09, Dagmar has produced another stunning range of pieces for girls and boys. You can look forward to seeing new styles such as the Bubble Dress, the Cowboy Shirt, and the Maude Jumper. But current fans need not worry! Her delicate, 100% cotton, Henley Tees, the Olivia Skirt, and the Odette Sweater Set are still in the mix for next season.
C. Half Dot Brooklyn
This debut collection of children’s outwear received our vote for the most innovative and unexpected find at Bubble last week. The small collection of coats, capes and vests have all been created for multi-weather wear. Snap buttons transform each outfit so it can been worn across the changing seasons. Complete with a hood for wind and rain protection, and the inclusion of little pockets for toys and collectables – are all telltale signs that the creator of these coats is a mother herself. Presented in a mix of sophisticated (but sometimes tired) plaids, young designer Judy Lee makes this British fabric staple look new again. To be seen in a playground near you, come Fall.
D. Whitten Grey
Whitten Grey unveiled it’s breathtaking latest collection of environmentally friendly clothing, which included the 100% organic bamboo, white dress with front button, shown above. Each new style has been constructed in a fresh, sophisticated, age appropriate way. Using a refreshing palette of charcoal, white, grey and yellow, their clean, effortless shapes for girls were some of the prettiest seen at the show.
E. Jess Brown
A collection of Jess Brown’s one-of-a-kind, handmade rag dolls sat together, keeping watch over Dagmar Daley’s Fall 09 collection. Patiently waiting to be noticed by visitors to the booth, it was hard not to be transfixed by their simple beauty. Each doll is made of cotton muslin and linen. Hand dyed in persian black teas to create their various skin tones. Brown then primarily uses recycled and antique fabrics and findings to complete these precious beauties.
