LMNOP loves Mums: Day 5

Paper Wings is a creative mix of past, present and future ideas in children’s product design. Managing Director, Michelle Fallon and partner Jason Gibaud, provide the artistic vision and technical expertise behind this unique company. Their combined success in costume design, feature film production, architecture and interior design, make this brand one of Australia’s best.
LMNOP: How many children do you have, and how old are they?
Two girls. Vivette 9, and Esther 6. A new baby is due in July.
LMNOP: Name an activity you love to do with Veve and Essie?
Veve and Essie are very imaginative, creative children. I really love painting and drawing with them. They’re so brilliant at developing themes and stories to go with their art – we can entertain ourselves for hours!
LMNOP: When and where are you happiest?
I’m a happy person by nature, so I don’t have a ‘place’ and a ‘time’ to pinpoint. I guess that time with Jason (husband Jason Gibaud, chief designer at Paper Wings) and the girls makes me most happy. Fortunately, because we work together and the kids are so interested in what we do, our time together may vary from chaotically busy in the studio to playing together in the garden at home.
LMNOP: What’s your favorite family vacation spot?
‘Vacation’ is a bit of an abstract concept for us! Our design and research work with Paper Wings does take us to a variety of countries and we bring the girls whenever possible. Although we’re busy, we make sure we take the time to absorb the culture around us. Right now – we’re in India celebrating Mother’s Day which has been a fabulous experience for the whole family.
LMNOP: How are you most like your own mother?
My Mum is great at being busy, while never forgetting to put my brothers and me at the top of every priority list. I really use Mum as a role model that way – I hope I can emulate her.
LMNOP: The best piece of advice your mother ever gave you?
That doing things ‘my own way’ was perfectly okay. When it comes to parenting, she also taught me that you could achieve routine without being a tyrant – very valuable.
LMNOP: Name three things your daughters have taught you?
Patience (I’m notoriously impatient!), to cherish living ‘in the moment’ and how to genuinely love a guinea pig.
LMNOP: Complete this sentence. I hope my children inherit my …
… optimism, adaptability and sense of adventure.

Sue Sinclair’s Raspberry Kids offers a broad range of products that embody it’s tagline — fresh, healthy and fun. This Canadian purveyor of all things good is a refreshingly different place to shop online for all your children’s needs.
LMNOP: How many children do you have, and how old are they?
Two. Three if you count our eldest, most disobedient child, Beli the labrador.
LMNOP: Name an activity you love to do with Jamie and Riley?
Exercise. They are my cheering squad and they like to join in which keeps me motivated to keep going!
LMNOP: When and where are you happiest?
At the cottage back home in Manitoba. Incredible memories of growing up there and now it makes me so happy to see my kids do the same.
LMNOP: What’s your favorite family vacation spot?
There are too many. We love to explore and go adventures and are so grateful to have the opportunity to do so. We have traveled a lot with the kids and they are real troopers. So far they have been to Boston, NY, California, Australia (our other home), Whistler, Winnipeg, Hawaii and we are always planning our next adventure before we are even home from our current one.
LMNOP: How are you most like your own mother?
I am a bit of an organizer like she was. I have lists for my lists. I learned so much from my mother and appreciate her wisdom more than ever. I miss her so much.
LMNOP: The best piece of advice your mother ever gave you?
She was always giving me advice and I often rebelled and wanted to do it my own way, usually realizing her way did work and was the best way. Best advice though would have to be her telling me to work hard, be respectful of others and if you say you are going to do something, you do it.
LMNOP: Name three things your children have taught you?
1. How simple things can and sometimes should be.
2. Things are just things and all we really need is to be in each other`s presence.
3. You can have fun and be fascinated by absolutely anything
LMNOP: Complete this sentence. I hope my children inherit my …
… love of life.
