LMNOP loves Mums: Mother’s Day
![]()
Cocoon Couture is a fantastic range of bean bags, and unique room accessories for kids. Every piece is brought to life with their delightful critter characters, by using vintage fabrics and prints.
LMNOP: How many children do you have, and how old are they?
I have two boys. Twins, Flynn and Archer who have just turned 6 years old.
LMNOP: Name an activity you love to do with Flynn and Archer?
I love going down to the beach with the boys after school or on weekends and surfing with them. They are just starting to stand up which is so exciting. To watch their faces light up when they ride on the face of the wave; pure joy!
LMNOP: When and where are you happiest?
At my happiest when I am hanging with the kids just before bed, reading stories … every one is so relaxed and peaceful. I am also pretty happy when I have my ‘time out’ in my regular yoga class. But nothing beats having my brood around me.
LMNOP: What’s your favorite family vacation spot?
I have a couple, but I think my most memorable holiday has been at Gillard’s Beach in the Mimosa Rocks National Park, just north of Tathra (NSW south coast). Camping in our camper van with an open fire and a hammock slung between the trees. A good book and plenty of wildlife and space to let the boys express their wild side!
LMNOP: How are you most like your own mother?
Mum has a lot of empathy and time for people. I would say this is one thing I am most like mum.
LMNOP: The best piece of advice your mother ever gave you?
Always believe in yourself.
LMNOP: Name three things your boys have taught you?
Flynn and Archer are my constant reflection … three things they have taught me:
– Patience.
– How to tell jokes and laugh at them (no matter what the punch line is!)
– How wonderful life is right here and now!
LMNOP: Complete this sentence. I hope my children inherit my …
… inner strength and love for life.

BB+++ is a Dutch kids designer label founded in 2005 by product designer and artist, Kellie Smits.
LMNOP: How many children do you have, and how old are they?
I have two sons. Elvis Finn will be 4 years next month and Djek Max is 5 years-old.
LMNOP: Name an activity you love to do with Elvis Finn and Djek Max?
I love a lot of things, like going to our Kids’ museum ‘Villa Zebra’ in Rotterdam where they can see nice art and do creative workshops. Or just going to the center on our transport bike and drink some coffee and cake with one of them separately.
LMNOP: When and where are you happiest?
In our new house when the sun is shining! We bought a nice big house with a ground floor space for the atelier of BB+++. We received the keys 3 weeks ago and are now working in it. The beautiful spring sun is shining in the Netherlands, so it’s fun working there. We are all very happy that everything will be complete in the new house!
LMNOP: What’s your favorite family vacation spot?
Italy, Italy … I love Italian food, Italian weather, Italian people, Italian landscape & nature. Passion, design and capriciousness are the keywords for Italy, which I love.
LMNOP: How are you most like your own mother?
My mother and I are both fascinated by design and we both love cosines and a good wine! For the character I am more like my father …
LMNOP: The best piece of advice your mother ever gave you?
The best thing my mother gave me was a lot of freedom when I was a child. Now I am a mother myself, I realize how difficult that is and that it’s an important sacrifice to give to your child. It gave me self-confidence and helped me develop my character by being adventurous!
LMNOP: Name three things your boys have taught you?
Having children has taught me more about who I am, and that a lot of our character is set in the genes. My boys have taught me that time passes quickly and to be passionate in what you are doing. They’ve also taught me that the most important thing is to love and to be loved.
LMNOP: Complete this sentence. I hope my children inherit my ...
… creativity.
