I love this recipe. I've used it many times with great success. Here's my personal tips:
* As per above put the colour in whilst cooking if doing one colour. Much easier and far less mess (if you get it on you hands make a baking soda paste and rub on hands - works a treat). I also put the glitter in at this time.
* I use my mixer to mix all ingredients first. Easier to make when you are not trying to get the lumps out whilst cooking.
* Once cooked I let it sit on the paper for a few minutes. It gets less gluggy as it cools and then very quickly comes together.
* Peppermint essence is also really nice and the Martha Stewart glitter range compliments the 'gelato' colours.
Hope this helps.

I made a full batch in a single color -- instead of kneading the coloring into the dough, I added it in just before the dough really started coming together. No (green) colored hands! Also, since I ended up with a lovely shade of mint green, I added a teaspoon of mint extract to sweeten the deal. Delightful! The cream of tartar lends elasticity to the dough; don't leave it out -- but I ended up only using 2 tablespoons and the dough was plenty elastic for my needs.

this time of the year it can be a lot of fun to scent the play dough with pumpkin pie spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc). Smells SO good! I put this link on facebook and look forward to trying it out myself tomorrow.
