Baby & Kids World 2009: Show Highlights #1
![]()
A. Little Something
San Francisco based Mara Greenaway makes some of the most delightful hair clips we’ve seen in a long time. Her whimsical designs are handcrafted from wool felt and carry the brand name, Little Something. Look out for Little Something’s Days of the Week Barrettes Set in the next issue of LMNOP.
B. Livie & Luca
Livie & Luca introduced some of their new footwear styles at Baby & Kids World last week. The Holland Boot (shown above) was by far our favourite design. Other noteworthy Fall/Winter 09 styles on show were the Anya Brown, D’anjou (a sweet pear motif), and the Harlo Brown.
C. Solby Puppet Bibs
Solby’s handy purse size puppets open up to become useful bibs at meal time. They’re super soft and are sold in pairs.
D. Fueki
Fueki is a funky clothing, soft toys and accessories label for kids, inspired by a Japanese, vintage glue pot character from the seventies. The team at Fueki presented a brand-new collection of designs, incorporating them on to everything from baby onesies to notebooks and character pens.
E. Kids Ink
We fell in love with this LA labels’ fresh signature designs and ultra-soft fabrics. Kids Ink showcased a collection of comfortable basics in an eclectic mix of designs and styles that transported us to a busy Berverly Hills playground. Already popular amongst the celebrity set, this super hip, made in the USA brand is sure to take Japan by storm next season.
F. Mil de berry
Mil de berry’s clothing line and accessories made just for girls was one of the highlights of this show. Bright coloured fabrics were mixed with detailed trims and bold prints to create Mil de Berry latest looks. Our wished-for piece was the quirky frill cap shown above.
G. The Lego Watch
Lego fans will want one of these! The Lego watch is available in a whole variety of different styles and comes with extra pieces so you can build your own designs. We’ll let you know where you can purchase these shortly.
H. Washable Colour-in Books
Japanese cloth toy company Marias, always draws a crowd whenever their huge toy globe is on display. At last weeks’ Baby & Kids World trade event in Tokyo they launched a new product for kids who love to colour. Marias washable colour-in book comes complete with 6 colourful pens that magically wash away when water is applied.
I. Kapla
A magnificent Eiffel Tower made from over 4,000 planks took center stage at the Kapla stand in Tokyo. We introduced you to Kapla planks here on the LMNOP Blog not so long ago. This really is an incredibly simple but creative construction toy for children of all ages. Kapla’s recently released boxed colour range will be popular this Christmas.
J. 7 Mile Bridge
A husband and wife team are behind this amazingly fun clothing and accessories line for kids age 0 to 10. 7 Mile Bridge’s signature character is a turtle named Kametan. We had trouble deciding which piece we’d show you from their extensive collection, but decided in the end to feature these terribly cute turtle bags that caught our eye.
