Baby & Kids World 2009: Show Highlights #3

A. Allerhand
Here at LMNOP we are huge fans of Allerhand’s range of family lifestyle bags. Each design delivers on this German company’s brand concept ‘inside function, outside style’. All the bags share many of the same pockets, like detachable or integrated insulated bottle holders. Shoulder pads with handy zip pockets which can be used to keep money or a bus pass safe. And little pockets for items like pacifiers, snacks or small toys are easily clipped on for quick access and can be wiped clean inside. The Mini Club Bag shown above is currently our personal favourite.
B. Zooni
Zooni’s collection of truly fun, Mop top hats and M’uppet Mittens are guaranteed to turn heads! We fell in love with the Chunkee Monkee style shown above and its matching mittens. Zooni’s designs are 100% original and are also guaranteed to withstand being thrown, pulled, tugged, and stomped on by your little monkey!
C. Howdy Doody Footwear
We had to show you these fabulous screen-printed canvas shoes from Japanese boys label, Howdy Doody’s.
D. Mimi’lou Wall Decals
Decorating blank walls has never been easier and we are certainly spoilt for choice when it comes to wall decals. It’s becoming harder to find unique decal concepts for kids spaces, however French company Mimi’lou produce an enchanting range of simple, line drawing designs, that leave the impression of hand-painted art once they’ve been applied on to a wall. The designs displayed at Baby & Kids World were captivating.
E. Minimonkey Baby Slings
These colourful baby carriers by Minimonkey are a stylish and practical alternative to some of the more dated styles on the market today. Perfect for 0 – 2 year olds, this multi-purpose carrier can even be used in the playpen.
F. Mr Robot Head
Imagine batteryless electronic toys! The clever folk at Ecotronic in the UK, have developed a series of toys that require no batteries. Toys appear to be electronic but are actually powered by being wound up or shaken. We had the opportunity to have some fun at Cast Japan’s stand, and were able to road-test Mr Robot Head, the Penguin Torch and the Eco Rocket. They were pretty amazing!
G. Chan, Pie & Gnon
Some of you may already know about France’s overwhelmingly popular Sophie la Girafe, a natural, rubber teether toy for babies. But few of you may know about her friends, Chan, Pie and Gnon (Pie & Gnon shown above). These cute little ‘mushroom’ characters are soft chewable toys for babies, made from the same rubber used to make Sophie. They’re bound to make their way south sometime soon.
H. Hansa Toys
This stand quite possibly received the most attention at the Baby & Kids World trade fair. You couldn’t help but stop at this incredible stand to pay homage to some of the planets most stunning wildlife and domestic creatures. Hansa Toys brought just a few of their life-like, life-size, soft toy animals to Japan last week. Later this month we’ll show you some more pictures of their stand and you’ll get to meet the company’s Chief Designer, Hennie Navarrette.
I. Crocodile Creek Playground Balls
An array of colourful balls formed a centerpiece at Shonan International’s stand. We really like these heavy duty, Crocodile Creek playground balls. Not only are they fun but they’re made of natural and synthetic rubber and contain no PVC, BPA, latex or vinyl.
