Hakuhinkan Toy Park
Hakuhinkan Toy Park is one of Tokyo’s largest and best known toy stores. This multi-story destination is where you’ll find a wonderful selection of Japanese handmade wooden toys by Muku Studio as well as gg-kids. If you do some shopping, make sure you stop by the tax exemption counter on the way out. 8-8-11 Ginza, Chuo-ku.

Daikanyama
The Daikanyama area is one of Tokyo’s most exclusive neighbourhoods. Home to several children’s clothing boutiques, ateliers, numerous cafés and buzzing restaurants – you could easily spend an entire day here. Many young families live in the district so it’s super kid-friendly. Catch the train from Shibuya Station and take the
Tokyu Toyoko Line to Daikanyama Station.

Tokyo Toy Museum
The hands-on exhibits and activities at Tokyo’s Toy Museum will delight your kids for sure. 4-20 Yotsuya, Shinjuku-ku. Phone: 5367-9601.

Ito-ya
A giant red paper clip marks the spot for specialised stationery store, Ito-ya. Take your time and explore all nine floors. Ito-ya’s range is pretty comprehensive so you’re bound to find something you need. 2-7-15, Ginza Chuo-ku. Phone: 3561-8311.

Tokyu Hands
Offering everything from stationery to tools, and toys to household goods, there’s something for the whole family in Japan’s mega-store-chain, Tokyu Hands. 2-2-14 Ginza, Chuo-ku. Phone: 3538-0109.

BørneLund
Kids get to test-drive  toys in this impressive play emporium. Choose from a fine selection of imported wooden toys and some of Europe’s leading brands. 1-3-12, Jingumae, Shibuya-ku. Phone: 5785-0860.

EAT
Café & Meal Muji
Pick up contemporary toys and tees at Muji’s mega-store in Ginza. If you find yourself there at lunch time, head to the in-store café for a light meal and a coffee. Matsuzakaya Ginzaten Honkan B2F, 6-10-1 Ginza, Chuo-ku.
