Make: Photo Calendar
Photo: Ian MacPherson. Produced by LMNOP Productions.
Explaining a weekly schedule to the littlest member of the family can sometimes be a challenge. It’s hard for them to remember what day comes first, who they’re going to be seeing, and what events have been organised for that particular day. Here’s a neat visual way to communicate the week’s happenings with a set of personalised photo fridge magnets.
Compile a fun selection of photographs that show your child with people they will recognise: mum and dad; a regular play-date; a grandparent; a carer, or their classmates at daycare. Your magnets can even show familiar places such as a favourite playground or café. The rest of the steps are easy:
Step 1. Determine how big your photo magnets can be. Measure the width of your fridge door then divide the measurement by seven. You might like to factor in a small gap between each photo.
Step 2. Print each photo to the correct width.
Step 3. Make a colourful card for each day of the week. These will sit across the top of your fridge calendar.
Step 4. Laminate all of your cards and photographs at a local printing store.
Step 5. Stick a strip of magnet tape across the back of each laminated card.
Step 6. Create your child’s calendar by displaying the relevant photo magnets for that week.
