The Matchbox Project by Sonya Gee.
Little treats and tiny treasures will be the focus of the Powerhouse Museum’s July School holidays show, The Tinytoreum. The exhibition will feature tiny Museum treasures that have inspired children’s tales and illustrations by author Jackie French and illustrator Bruce Whatley.
To prepare for the launch of this fabulous exhibition, Sydney artist Sonya Gee (The Matchbox Project) will host a special one-off workshop at the museum on Saturday, June 26. Participating kids will decorate matchboxes and fill them with miniature treats with the help of Sonya and her artist friends, Haline Ly and Tony Curran. The boxes will then be hidden around the Powerhouse for other children to spot during The Tinytoreum show.
