Susan Salk shows us how to cleverly utilise vintage shop signs and letter blocks to spell out a child’s name (shown above) in her book, Room for Children: Stylish Spaces for Sleep and Play. To create this decor idea in your own home you need look no further than old wares shops and local rummage sales.

However, if you live in Paris you’ll want to head straight to Kidimo – Nicolas Flachot and Thierry Bruere’s ‘typo’ haven. Whatever letter you may be searching for, the duo will most certainly have it amongst their eclectic collection of zinc, Bakelite and wooden letters. These guys have been scouring French antique fairs and flea markets for vintage shop signs for years and will happily help you customize your own sign.
