Out & About: The Radio City Christmas Spectacular

For 78 years the Christmas Spectacular has been a holiday tradition for millions, making Radio City the ultimate Christmas destination for families everywhere. This year’s Christmas Spectacular starring the world-famous Radio City Rockettes will amaze both young (and old!) with dynamic Rockette performances, breathtaking special effects, stunning costumes and astounding scenes.

The Rockettes will take you on a tour of historic NY landmarks such as the Empire State Building, 5th Avenue’s store windows and even Central Park. Needless to say this larger-than-life production includes an appearance by Santa himself. He’ll take you on a dazzling journey from New York City to the North Pole where you’ll get to go inside his gigantic 25-foot high warehouse of Christmas toys.

Here’s a few fun facts about the show:

– More than 1,200 colourful costumes are worn in the show. That equals 350 loads of laundry per week!
– The double-decker bus seen in the brand new scene “New York at Christmas” weighs an astounding 7 tons, is 34 feet long, and 12 feet high.
– The Rockettes will sparkle from the stage as each costume is crystallized with more than 3,000 Swarvoski crystals. In total, the Rockettes will showcase over 240,00 crystals as they perform the finale, “Let Christmas Shine”.
