LMNOP loves Mums: Hadley Peterson & Holly Brown

Hadley Peterson and Holly Brown are the dynamite duo behind tada! shop: a faster, smarter and more enjoyable way to shop online for your kids. When Peterson and Brown experienced online shopping for their own crew to be difficult and time consuming, they set out to create a better way to mix styles, brands and price points to create the perfect shopping list.

Their successful venture is well-frequented by busy, style conscious mums who shop from ready-made looks or create their own by using tada! shop’s ‘Create a Look’ tool. If you haven’t already checked it out, you should! In the meantime, learn how Hadley and Holly are most like their own mums and what best piece of motherly advice they were ever given.

LMNOP: How many children do you have, and how old are they?
Three girls, ages 8, 7, and 3.

LMNOP: Name an activity you love to do with your kids?
Creative projects. Whether its impromptu decorating of their dad’s birthday cake or doing one of the special projects at Moomah in NYC.

LMNOP: When and where are you happiest?
With my family, doing something that we all can enjoy. A trip into NYC to the Children’s Museum of the Arts and then out to a fun dinner in SoHo. Skiing as a family, which we can now do and is so much fun! We just got back from Spring Break and I get such a kick out of exploring new places with the girls.

LMNOP: How are you most like your own mother?
I think I am most like her in that we both love to be around people, but at the same time can be very happy by ourselves. Some people get anxious when alone, but I think we both find it relaxing.

LMNOP: The best piece of advice your mother ever gave you?
My mom isn’t an advice kind of person, it’s more advice by example. I love her sense of adventure and she taught me to just go for it… whether its loading the girls into the car for a spontaneous weekend getaway or starting my own company, it’s important to feel you can do it.

LMNOP: Name three things your children have taught you.

1. Don’t be a hypocrite. The computer screen is basically the same as TV and if I don’t like how they glaze over when watching TV, I shouldn’t do it while working.
2. If you are too rigid in life, its pretty miserable. You have to be able to adjust as life with kids never goes the way you plan, and that’s okay.
3. Affection is so important. Whether its a hug when they fall down or do something great, a back tickle to go to sleep or reading with an arm around them. I sometimes don’t feel like I do it enough, and when I do it reminds me to do it more.

LMNOP: Complete this sentence. “I hope my children inherit my….”
… love to explore new places, new cultures, new people, new experiences.

LMNOP: How many children do you have, and how old are they?
We have four boys, ages 9, 7, 4 and 2 months!

LMNOP: Name an activity you love to do with your kids?
We have fun going on little adventures together. I always love going into NYC to a museum or just to wander and have a fun dinner. I also love doing things outside, like heading to Stone Barns (a wonderful farm in the area) or simply biking.

LMNOP: When and where are you happiest?
I am happiest when I have quality, focused time, typically 1:1 – or when trying something new. Ideally, it is both! It may be traveling somewhere new or sitting in our house reading together.

LMNOP: How are you most like your own mother?
We are both “doers”. Constant task-masters.

LMNOP: The best piece of advice your mother ever gave you?
Not to take parenting quite so seriously. If you need to put on the TV for a bit to calm the house down, do it. If your newborn doesn’t get out of the house for a while, he will be just fine. If you need to go take a nap at your friend’s house because you are exhausted, do it. Happy mom = happy baby.

LMNOP: Name three things your children have taught you.
1. Patience.
2. To stop and take the time for hugs and kisses.
3. The importance and fun of thinking out of the box.

LMNOP: Complete this sentence. “I hope my children inherit my….”
… passion to make the most of life – go out and experience everything.
