LMNOP loves Mums: Meet Kate Lilley

We love our mums at LMNOP and will be honouring them this Sunday, (May 8) on Mother’s Day, 2011. Visit the LMNOP Blog every day this week to meet a few special mums you may not recognise, but will surely know – because they’re the masterminds behind some of the world’s best kids brands and online endeavours.

First up is Kate Lilley. Her marvelous blog, Mini-eco features creative activities and handmade stuff for kids, the whole family can help make by using inexpensive materials found around the home. Kate’s colourful projects and photographs inspire DIY enthusiasts to create craft with their kids weekly.

LMNOP: How many children do you have, and how old are they?
I have two boys; Seth is nearly 4 and Tommy is 2 and a half.

LMNOP: Name an activity you love to do with your kids?
Swimming – we’re all water babies!

LMNOP: When and where are you happiest?
Snuggled in bed in the morning with my boys… it’s a very rare occurrence! They both have ‘ants in their pants’ and like to be on the move the second their eyes open.

LMNOP: How are you most like your own mother?
She’s a crafty lady too! A real craftswoman though. She’s ace at making quilts, knitting, sewing, lacemaking, crocheting… you name it really.

LMNOP: The best piece of advice your mother ever gave you?
Don’t listen to advice… rely on your instinct.

LMNOP: Name three things your children have taught you.
1. The art of patience.
2. That the words ‘poo’, ‘wee’ and ‘willy’ always lighten the mood!
3. The ability to love absolutely unconditionally.

LMNOP: Complete this sentence. “I hope my children inherit my….”
… open-mindedness.
