Minor Details: Getting the look for less

No matter where you live, what you do, the kind of car you drive, you’re probably feeling the sting of the economic crisis. Your hopes and plans get put on hold: renovating the kitchen, buying that new dress, or giving junior’s room a facelift. On the upside, times like these remind us to be more imaginative. I began thinking how I could achieve high-priced looks for less. Cheat my way to a chic looking makeover.
As a prototype, I used Zoel’s room, designed by the New York-based creative agency, The Apartment. The double long, back-to-back twin bed is from Belgium. The light by Ingo Maurer and that amazing wall-paper are from the UK-based Timorous Beasties. Overall, the room is well-considered and playfully sophisticated space for a 6 year old boy.
I found some great products to create a chic makeover on a small budget. So now we can all get Zoel’s look for less:
A. Blue Floral Damask wallpaper, US$15.99, USA Wallpaper
B. Mobile photo hanging clip, US$10, Kikkerland Shop
C. Little Friends duvet set, $185, Kukunest, Cinnamon Bear
D. Eina Twin bed frame, US$100, Ikea
E. Fun Time Around Town Road Rug, US$72, CSN Rugs
F. White cord kit, US$14, Luna Bazaar
