Lifestyle brand Oeuf (‘egg’ in French) is the work of French-American husband and wife team Sophie Demenge and Michael Ryan. Operating out of New York, their business philosophy is as forward as their designs – a commitment to creating products with real value to customers, and a strong emphasis production values and reduced environmental impact.

Their “Keep it Surreal” Fall/Winter 2012 Collection of offbeat knits in classic neutrals showcase Oeuf’s lighthearted approach to kid’s fashion. Each piece is handmade and are made from 100% baby alpaca by a collective of Bolivian women, giving them the income they need to send their kids to school.

“My kids gave me the idea,” says Sophie of the range. “The game, “the exquisite corpse” is one of the favourites in my family. Looking at some of the crazy, surreal drawings or sentences inspired me.”

Left: Mae wears Marnie dress and Mae vest with Eye hat. Right: Eye hats and mittens.

The piece she’s most pleased with? “I really like the hat with the eyes on the back of the head. It’s a wink at my mother who used to say that she had eyes on the back of her head and could see everything all the time.”
