Kids Instyle 2013 played host to a range of exciting newcomers and one of our hot finds was accessory label Milk & Soda. Founded by Leah Nelson and Sam and Dully Lee in September 2011, the brand serves up a cool and quirky collection of accessories, from hats to hair clips, bags to bowties and sunnies to suspenders.

Their latest Winter 2013 Collection showcases a classic LA street style. Leah Nelson says their approach is simple – to take the best of what folks are wearing around cities like New York, LA, Seoul and Hong Kong and “miniaturise them” to create up-to-the-minute fashion for kids.

When quizzed about her hot tips for the season, Nelson revealed that “cats are having a moment” and that “mixing is the new matching. It’s all about mixing camo with leopard, print on print, whatever floats your boat.”

As for boys, Milk & Soda is holding up none other than Kevin McCallister from 90s hit film Home Alone. “He invented hipster before it was even cool!”

Nelson’s favourites include the Fletcher backpack in Pink Leopard and the Kevin beanie for boys and the kitty kat-inspired Jules studded beanie and Sadie faux fur scarf for girls.

The new Winter Collection will be available online this March at milknsoda.com.au
